France and Aga Khan Network Sign Agreement for Cooperation in Supporting Syria

French President Emmanuel Macron and Aga Khan Development Network President Rahim Aga Khan have signed a joint agreement for cooperation in supporting Syria and rebuilding its livelihoods.
A joint statement issued by both sides in Paris stated that the agreement emphasizes the intention to cooperate for a successful and peaceful transition in Syria, protecting human dignity, enhancing resilience, and resettling displaced persons.
According to the statement, the agreement includes areas of cooperation in responding to urgent humanitarian needs, as well as investing in the necessary foundations for sustainable and long-term development, including rebuilding the Syrian economy through supporting agriculture, empowering entrepreneurship, enhancing the healthcare sector, providing cultural support as a means to create employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
The joint declaration was signed during an official visit by the President of the Aga Khan Development Network to France at the invitation of President Macron. This visit marks the first of its kind in a series of visits undertaken by Rahim Aga Khan since assuming his position earlier this year.
