Former Biden Doctor Summoned to Testify Before Congress in Health Reports Probe

In a move that escalates the investigation into the health of former US President Joe Biden, Republican Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, announced that President Biden's personal doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, will testify before the committee next Wednesday. This comes after controversy over the accuracy of the health reports issued by O'Connor during Biden's presidency.
Comer explained in an interview on "Sunday Morning Futures" on Fox News that the committee has "many questions" for the doctor, expressing doubts about the credibility of those reports. He said, "I don't think anyone in America... believes that Biden's health is close to the health of Dr. O'Connor, which he constantly publishes".
He added that the committee will address with O'Connor "many medical questions and legal issues", including how he issues "repeatedly optimistic health reports about Joe Biden". Comer also noted that the investigation also includes Justice Department inquiries into "unlawful use of the auto-pen" in signing official documents, without confirming a direct link to Biden's case.
In addition to O'Connor, the committee is preparing to question five other officials from the Biden administration, as part of what Comer described as "the massive cover-up of the former president's declining health". The committee chairman warned of the consequences of refusing to cooperate, saying: "If they don't answer our questions, or don't show up, we will consider it contempt of Congress".
Comer emphasized the Republicans' commitment to uncovering the "truth", and shedding light on whether the "inner circle" in the previous administration was actually "running the show" during Biden's declining health period. This investigation remains part of ongoing congressional efforts to review the performance of presidential administrations, amid sharp political divisions over the intentions of these investigations.
