Former Arsenal player Thomas Partey is on trial for "rape and sexual assault" charges

Ghanaian Thomas Partey, former Arsenal midfielder, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday to face charges including five counts of rape against two women, as well as a sexual assault charge related to a third woman. These alleged incidents date back to the period between 2021 and 2022.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, had previously confirmed that her client "denies all the charges against him," expressing his welcome for "the opportunity to finally clear his name." Partey appeared at the court wearing black clothing and carrying a dark blue jacket, avoiding comments to reporters.
According to police statements, the investigations with Partey, who is now a free agent after his contract with Arsenal ended, began in February 2022 following the first report of rape. Inspector Andy Forfe of the Metropolitan Police stated last July: "Our priority remains to support the women who have come forward with reports."
It is noted that Partey joined Arsenal from Spanish club Atlético Madrid in 2020 for £45.3 million, participating in 167 matches in which he scored 9 goals and provided 7 assists, and won the Community Shield with the team.
The court is following legal proceedings as the player faces charges that could impact his football and legal future.
