An enormous explosion rocked a weapons depot belonging to the Houthis in the area of Bani Hashish, northeast of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, yesterday, Thursday, as reported by media sources. The explosion, lasting for about two hours, caused projectiles to scatter in nearby neighborhoods, resulting in extensive material damage to commercial establishments and residential homes, and claiming the lives of 19 individuals while injuring around 40 others. In a related context, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree announced the execution of a missile operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv with a "Zulfiqar" missile, confirming that the strike achieved its objective, leading to the suspension of air traffic at the airport for an hour, accompanied by sirens sounding in several Israeli areas. Israeli media outlets confirmed the halt in airport operations and the evacuation of thousands to shelters. These developments come amidst escalating regional tensions, with the United States announcing the cessation of its airstrikes against the Houthis at the beginning of May following an agreement described by President Donald Trump as a result of the "surrender of the Houthis." However, Israel denied any connection to the agreement and affirmed the continuation of its military operations against them. It is worth noting that since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023, the Houthis have launched several missile attacks on Israel and ships affiliated with it in the Red Sea, while Washington and Tel Aviv carried out repeated airstrikes on Houthi sites in Sanaa and Hodeidah before the American strikes ceased through Omani mediation.
