Most European countries are experiencing a harsh summer this year, as the continent has recorded the outbreak of hundreds of wildfires consuming large areas of land.
European media reported heavy losses and a record level of pollution due to an unprecedented rise in greenhouse gas emissions.
The fires have also consumed thousands of hectares after breaking out in EU countries, burning more than 292,855 hectares, which is double the area consumed by fires during the same period last year, indicating that the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from these fires have reached record levels according to the European Copernicus system for monitoring climate change.
More than 1,339 fires have been recorded, each exceeding 30 hectares since the beginning of this year, noting that some EU countries have witnessed the highest rate of emissions from wildfires in the past 23 years.
