The EU Mission to Syria said today, Friday, that the fires that swept through areas in Syria led to the displacement of thousands of people and caused extensive damage to communities.
In a tweet via "ECHO", the mission added that "European countries participating in the civil protection mechanism are closely monitoring the situation and exploring ways to support Syrians in facing this disaster".
It added: "As part of our response, the European Union has activated the "Copernicus" service to provide updated satellite maps".
