The Syrian Ministry of Energy has revealed new steps aimed at improving the electricity situation in the country, amidst increasing economic challenges.
The government's communication director at the ministry announced an agreement with Azerbaijan for gas supply, which will make a clear difference in energy supply.

The official explained that Azerbaijani gas will be directly used in electricity generation, which will contribute to increasing operation hours by an average of 5 hours daily.
The agreement extends for three years with the possibility of renewal, and is an important step to support the sustainability of the electricity service.

He also mentioned that current local gas production is 6 million cubic meters per day, confirming plans to resume local pumping to increase reliance on national resources.

The statement did not overlook the economic aspect, as it noted a proposed study to raise electricity prices in a carefully planned manner that aligns with citizens' purchasing power, aiming to keep up with costs and ensure the continuity of improvements in the service.

These steps come as part of government efforts to alleviate citizens' suffering and improve the quality of public services, amid an energy crisis the country has been experiencing for years.
