The Sudanese Doctors Network warned of the continued siege by the Rapid Support Forces on the city of El Fasher, which has led to the prevention of food and medicine from entering the city, putting the lives of more than half a million Sudanese at risk of starvation.
Doctors described what is happening in El Fasher as a complete genocide, calling on the international community for urgent intervention to save the besieged civilians.
In a field development, the Sudanese army confirmed its determination to lift the siege imposed on El Fasher by the Rapid Support Forces.
Journalists reported that the army succeeded in halting the advance of the Rapid Support Forces from the southern axis of the city, despite the ongoing heavy artillery shelling on the outskirts of El Fasher.
The reporter also revealed that most of the city's hospitals have gone out of service due to the repeated shelling, at a time when about 900,000 people are suffering from hunger due to the siege that has been ongoing since May 2023.
This comes amid escalating attacks between the Rapid Support Forces opposing the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the Sovereignty Council, on El Fasher, which is considered the main center for humanitarian operations in the Darfur region.
