"Egyptian TV presenter Sarah Khalifa referred to criminal court for turning her apartment into a drug manufacturing lab"

The Egyptian Public Prosecution today, Tuesday, acknowledged referring the TV presenter Sarah Khalifa and 27 others to the criminal court on charges of forming a criminal gang to import substances used in the manufacture of drugs and producing them for trafficking.
The Public Prosecution also charged the defendants with possessing firearms and ammunition without a license.

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of the presenter and others from the criminal organization involved in importing synthetic cannabis, with them possessing a large quantity of drugs worth a total of 1.2 billion Egyptian pounds in April last month.

The Interior Ministry stated that the presenter was involved in drug trafficking with others who were identified and their names determined. She also assisted in purchasing drugs from outside Egypt, reprocessing and manufacturing them in the country, and then selling them, according to security investigations.

The presenter used her connections to buy drug manufacturing machines and equipment from abroad, and converted her apartment into a manufacturing lab and center in collaboration with another woman from one of the coastal provinces. The total amount of synthetic drugs and raw materials seized for manufacturing exceeded 750 kilograms.
