The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, said today, Wednesday, that he intends to run again in the 2027 elections after the end of his current term despite the investigations facing his government regarding corruption allegations.
Sanchez, who leads the socialist coalition minority left-wing government, is surrounded by a series of scandals, prompting the opposition to demand his resignation.
Responding to a question about whether he believes his government has the support of the majority of citizens, he said, "Yes, I am determined to run in the next general elections in 2027."
Sanchez had stated on June 12 that he would not call for new elections before the end of his current term despite the scandals plaguing his party.
Police entered the party's headquarters on Friday to copy emails of Santos Serdan, a close ally of Sanchez, who resigned a week earlier following a police report on allegations of bribery.
