Damascus services remove unauthorized obstructions in vital areas of the capital.

Abdul Qader Abdul Qader, Director of Services Departments in Damascus, announced on Wednesday, May 21, the implementation of a campaign to remove unauthorized encroachments in the Old City and Jobar areas of Damascus, in cooperation with the province's police department.
He explained that specialized teams have removed encroachments and violations, including the extension of commercial stalls onto sidewalks and public properties in the markets of Madhat Pasha, Al-Bzouriya, Al-Hamidiyah, as well as around the Umayyad Mosque.
Encroachments were also removed in Al-Hariqa Square and the Jobar area on the Tanneries Road, and confiscated due to causing obstruction to citizens' movement.
Abdul Qader confirmed that the directorate continues to carry out daily campaigns in various parts of the city to ensure the removal of random encroachments, while taking legal actions against violators.
This comes after Damascus province, represented by the Old City Directorate, issued warnings to shop owners in the markets of Al-Bzouriya and Madhat Pasha, urging them to "remove goods and violations placed on the roads, in order to preserve public safety and pedestrian flow in these vital markets."
The province had previously carried out a comprehensive campaign to remove random encroachments, due to "causing traffic congestion and distorting the city's public appearance," after providing alternative selling locations and the expiration of the voluntary removal deadline.
Damascus province emphasized "its commitment not to allow the return of any random encroachments that harm the city's aesthetic image and endanger citizens' safety," stating that this comes after securing appropriate alternatives.
