The Syrian Ministers of Transport, Communications, and Technology today, Tuesday, reviewed the progress of digital transformation projects at the General Establishment of Road Transport in Damascus, highlighting the cooperation between the two ministries in developing the digital infrastructure for road transport services.

Transport Minister Dr. Yarob Badr emphasized that the tour comes within the framework of implementing governmental directives to modernize transport institutions and enhance their efficiency through technology, stressing that digital transformation in road transport will contribute to improving service quality and facilitating procedures for citizens and economic activities.

Communications and Technology Minister Abdul Salam Hikmat, on his part, mentioned that the ministry provides necessary technical support to ensure the integration of digital infrastructure among institutions, confirming that cooperation with the Ministry of Transport sets a practical example of what can be achieved within the e-government framework.

The tour included visits to service halls, archiving departments, and technical planning sections, where the ministers emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of network connectivity projects and update work systems to meet current requirements and streamline procedures.

Following the tour, the ministers held a meeting to discuss ways to enhance cooperation, with Minister Hikmat stating that digital transformation has become a developmental necessity and must be directly linked to services provided to citizens, calling for empowering the government digitally and activating the role of the Holding Company for Post within the digital government system.

He also highlighted the importance of the "Silk Link" project, which aims to pass data traffic across Syria, enhancing the internet infrastructure and making a qualitative leap in its use and expanding its modern applications.

On his part, Minister Badr emphasized the importance of coordinating the laying of fiber optics along railway lines, calling for technical meetings and updating maps related to the infrastructure.

Additionally, Minister of Transport's Digital Transformation Advisor Raya Arafat proposed providing digital services through citizen service centers, training specialized personnel in cybersecurity, as well as examining digital applications to ensure their security and quality.
