Majd Jadaan, the sister of Manal Jadaan, the wife of Maher al-Assad, has accused Asma al-Assad, the wife of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad, of trafficking children's organs in orphanages.
The program "Above the Authority," aired on Al Jazeera, in its episode on February 14th, featured a TV interview with Majd Jadaan, where she accused Asma al-Assad of being involved in trafficking children's organs in an orphanage in Syria.
During the interview, Jadaan stated that "reliable sources informed her that Asma al-Assad was 'transferring children to shelters, knowing that their families were martyrs and of known descent,' indicating that she 'was selling children either for prostitution or organ trafficking.'
Last month, an investigation by Al Jazeera revealed the fate of children of detainees during Bashar al-Assad's regime after obtaining official documents from the Air Force Intelligence Directorate regarding the placement of children in orphanages during the previous regime.
Asma al-Assad became the First Lady of Syria between 2000 and 2024, and was promoted for years, especially in Western media, as the sophisticated face of Syria. However, this image failed to hold up after her support for her husband and the regime in suppressing the Syrian revolution.
