The English club Chelsea and its players announced a notable humanitarian initiative, which involved donating part of the prize money for winning the Club World Cup to the family of the late Portuguese striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
The London team received a financial reward of £11.4 million to be divided among its members, from a total of £87 million allocated for the champion team. An agreement was reached between the club's management and the players to allocate part of the amount to support the families of the deceased.
A special memorial ceremony for Jota and Silva is scheduled to take place during the opening week of the Premier League season, in honor of their careers and to commemorate their memories.
It is worth noting that Diogo Jota, a winger for Liverpool, and his brother Andre Silva, a player for the Portuguese club Penafiel, tragically passed away in a car accident in Spain on July 3rd.
