Fiorentina Returns to Serie A

Fiorentina, a competitor in the Italian Serie A football league, announced on Saturday the appointment of Stefano Pioli as their new coach for a period of three years. This marks the return of the Italian coach, who departed from Al-Nassr Saudi club last month, to Fiorentina for a second stint.
Fiorentina had extended the contract of their former coach, Raffaelli Baladini, in May last year, but he left after only three weeks, paving the way for Pioli's return following his departure from Al-Nassr.
Pioli, who represented Fiorentina between 1989 and 1995, previously managed the team between 2017 and 2019. He then took over the coaching responsibilities at AC Milan, leading them to the Italian league title in the 2021-2022 season before moving to the Saudi Professional League with Al-Nassr club.
Fiorentina finished sixth in the domestic league last season, securing a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League, the third most important continental competition.
The Italian Serie A has seen several clubs change their coaches ahead of the 2025-2026 season, including Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma, Atalanta, and Lazio.
