The United States today called for a step back and negotiation for a ceasefire in the Syrian city of Al-Suwayda, condemning violence against civilians.
Ambassador Tom Brock, the U.S. envoy for Syria and Lebanon, wrote on Twitter, "We strongly condemn the violence against civilians in Al-Suwayda. All parties must step back and engage in meaningful dialogue leading to a permanent ceasefire, and the perpetrators must be held accountable."
Brock stated that "the Syrian Presidency statement is strong but action must be taken to end the violence".
