Tom Barrack discusses with the foreign ministers of Syria and Jordan in Amman support for stability and reconstruction

The U.S. envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, held a trilateral meeting today, Tuesday, August 12, with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Syrian counterpart Asaad Al-Shaybani in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to discuss the latest developments in Syria and mechanisms to support reconstruction.
According to a statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the "X" platform, the meeting aimed to "discuss the situation in Syria, ways to support the process of rebuilding Syria on the foundations that ensure its security, stability, and sovereignty, meet the aspirations of its brotherly people, and preserve the rights of all Syrians."
The meeting included representatives from the relevant institutions of the three countries and was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the Jordanian and Syrian ministers. This is the second such meeting in less than a month, following a previous meeting held in Amman on July 19, 2025, which discussed efforts to stabilize the ceasefire in the Sweida Governorate.
It is noteworthy that the Sweida Governorate has witnessed relative calm since July 19, following a wave of armed clashes that lasted a week and resulted in casualties. The Syrian government had announced several ceasefire agreements in the area, the latest of which was on the same date, as part of its efforts to contain the crisis.
The current meeting comes as a continuation of previous discussions within the framework of regional and international efforts aimed at addressing the Syrian crisis and enhancing stability in the region.
