Workers Detained in Syrian Care Homes as Government Clarifies Reasons

The spokesperson for the committee investigating the fate of the children of detainees and the forcibly disappeared, Samer Qorbi, stated that the detention of several workers in Syrian care homes was carried out by order of the Attorney General in Damascus, based on personal claims submitted by families to the committee, confirming that the employees did not cooperate with them.
Qorbi affirmed that the detentions are legal and were conducted according to legal procedures, indicating that the committee was able to access some documents and is currently seeking additional information in this file.
Qorbi revealed that the detained female workers are: Nada Al-Ghabra from the Life Melody Complex, Lamia Al-Sawaf, Dadaa Al-Fandi, and Lamia Al-Baba.
The spokesperson explained that the committee's work focuses on research, statistics, and revealing the fate of children who were abducted in the prisons of the ousted regime, noting that the committee has started by outlining plans to determine the number of children transferred to care homes, in addition to tracking their fate.
He also pointed out that the committee includes representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Awqaf, and Justice, in addition to civil society organizations and the families of the missing, with the aim of coordinating work and facilitating communication.
