Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo ahead of the emergency summit to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue.

Today, Monday, March 3, 2025, Cairo, the Egyptian capital, is hosting a consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers as a prelude to the emergency summit scheduled to be held tomorrow at the leaders' level to discuss recent developments related to the Palestinian issue, including the proposed Egyptian Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
According to an official at the Arab League, the ministerial meeting will be closed to the media, focusing on achieving Arab consensus on rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands and enhancing Arab unity to counter these attempts.
The official emphasized that the main goal of the summit is to unify Arab positions and support legitimate Palestinian rights.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati revealed yesterday the completion of the proposed Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, noting that its details will be presented to Arab leaders during the emergency summit on Tuesday.
Abdel Ati explained that the plan needs the summit's approval before being presented to any foreign party, while calling for the "faithful and full implementation" of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, signed last January. He also urged the European Union to increase pressure on Israel to ensure the agreement's implementation and sustainability.
Arab countries have previously expressed their firm rejection of former U.S. President Donald Trump's plan, which aims to displace Palestinians from their lands, considering such plans and others as aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
Arab countries have emphasized that the only just solution to the Palestinian issue lies in granting Palestinians their inherent rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem.
In a related context, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is expected to participate in the Arab summit, called on all parties to make every possible effort to prevent the return of hostilities in Gaza.
Guterres emphasized in a statement issued by his spokesperson the need to immediately resume the flow of humanitarian aid to the sector and release all hostages, expressing hope that the Arab summit will contribute to enhancing efforts to achieve stability in the region.
