The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, accused "Israel" of pushing Syria and Lebanon towards explosion through what he described as "irresponsible military escalation," noting that "the occupation continues to violate existing agreements and persists in violating the sovereignty of states and killing civilians." In a statement issued yesterday, Friday, April 4, Aboul Gheit stated that "the wars waged by Israel, especially in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, have entered a new phase of complete chaos characterized by deliberate violations of international law," condemning the international community's silence and its failure to address these repeated violations. The official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Jameel Rashidi, pointed out that "Israeli military operations in Gaza have reached unprecedented levels of brutality and inhumanity," emphasizing that "what is happening is a deliberate plan to force the residents of the sector into forced displacement by making life there impossible." Aboul Gheit called on the international community to urgently act to stop these "heinous massacres," affirming that "leniency in confronting the occupation opens the door to a wide-scale explosion in the region." Regarding the situation in Lebanon, Rashidi noted that "resuming the policy of assassinations represents a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement, warning that this behavior threatens to ignite a new regional confrontation that is difficult to control," adding that "the clear goal of these practices is to create artificial tension that serves narrow Israeli domestic agendas at the expense of the region's stability." He added: "It is clear that Israel is targeting to escalate the situation in Syria and Lebanon through irresponsible military escalation, with no goal other than provocation and igniting fires to serve narrow internal agendas at the expense of innocent lives and the region's stability." It is worth mentioning that the Israeli occupation resumed its airstrikes on Gaza on the early morning of March 18, resulting in thousands of casualties, in the most violent escalation in two months.
