The Syrian Embassy in Qatar announced today, Tuesday, March 4, the start of attesting all documents issued by Qatar for use in Syria.

The Qatari Embassy stated in a Facebook post, "Based on the directives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Syria, the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Doha announces the start of attesting all documents issued by the State of Qatar for use in Syria."

The documents include birth certificates, educational certificates, marriage and divorce contracts, civil status documents, and other official documents, with the remaining services to be completed gradually according to the ministry's instructions.

Regarding passport issuance and renewal, the Syrian Embassy in Qatar stated, "The service for issuing or renewing passports is currently unavailable from the embassy in Doha."

The embassy added, "Every effort is being made to provide this service as soon as possible, and in case of any updates, they will be announced immediately through our official channels."

The embassy noted that "due to the current inability to renew passports, a letter can be issued by the embassy allowing the renewal of residency in Qatar for those in need."

It is worth mentioning that after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, Syrian consulates abroad stopped issuing passports, causing confusion for many Syrian refugees.

Two months later, many consulates and embassies resumed passport issuance, while Syrians in some countries are still seeking solutions to obtain them.
