US Authorities Arrest 17 Iranians on Security Threats

US authorities have arrested 17 Iranian nationals in the past few days amid warnings of escalating suspicious activity linked to Iran on US soil.
According to Fox News reports, the arrests included individuals with criminal and terrorist records, including Hamid Sayadi Tafreshi, who was arrested in Texas for violating probation conditions and had previous convictions for drug offenses and intimidation. The list also included Mohammad Hassan Pour from Baltimore, previously convicted of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon, and Kaveh Abbasi from Chicago, who violated immigration laws and has a history of cocaine trafficking.
These security measures come at a time when Homeland Security Secretary Tricia MacLellan expressed the department's concern about the presence of dangerous Iranian elements within the country, emphasizing that tracking and arrests are being conducted proactively to enhance national security.
Reports also indicated the arrest of other controversial figures, such as Arash Rostami convicted of sexual crimes, and Abdolmohammad Ragheb Zadeh wanted for deportation since 2005 due to his criminal history. The list also included individuals with terrorist backgrounds, like Yousef Mehrdei Nou on security watchlists, and Mehran Makari Saheli, a former member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who admitted ties to Hezbollah.
These developments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, while data reveals the Trump administration's release of 729 Iranians who entered the country illegally out of 1500, raising questions about immigration controls and the effectiveness of security measures.
