Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, Asaad al-Shaaban, stated during his speech today, Tuesday, in front of the United Nations General Assembly, that all components of the Syrian people reject foreign intervention and partition plans. Al-Shaaban added: "The Syrian people feel concerned and threatened by Israel," and continued: "Martyrs and wounded have fallen due to Israeli aggression." He also emphasized that the Golan Heights remain occupied territory in a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter. Al-Shaaban pointed out that "the security of our country cannot be separated from the security and stability of our neighbors, and we reject any policies that threaten peace." He said: "We have succeeded in unifying military factions despite the challenges." He added: "Our national work faces a real threat represented by Israel's continuous violations of our airspace and territories." Regarding sanctions, Al-Shaaban said: "The sanctions imposed on Syria are punishing the victims of the previous regime today, and we call for their lifting." He also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring unimpeded entry of aid. Earlier today in New York, Al-Shaaban met with European permanent representatives to the United Nations.
