The Syrian Arab Republic Presidency published today, Friday, a speech by Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar'a regarding the recent events in the Syrian coast.

Al-Shar'a stated: "Some remnants of the fallen regime sought to test the new Syria that they are unaware of."
He continued: "Syria is one unified entity from its east to its west, and from its north to its south. If any Syrian province is pricked, all provinces rush to support and honor it."

Al-Shar'a emphasized that "today's Syria does not differentiate between authority and people; it represents everyone and is a mission for everyone. There is no fear for a country that has a people and spirit like this."
He said: "What distinguishes us from our enemy is our commitment to our principles. When we compromise our ethics, we become our enemy on the same level. The remnants of the fallen regime are seeking provocation that leads to transgression they seek behind it."
He added: "I congratulate the army and security forces for their commitment to protecting civilians and their prompt performance."
In a related context, he continued: "We will pursue the remnants of the fallen regime and those among them who have committed crimes against the people, and we will present the remnants of the fallen regime who insist on assaulting the people to a fair court."

Al-Shar'a also called on the remnants of the previous regime in his speech to initiate disarmament.
He stressed to the security forces not to allow anyone to overstep and exaggerate in their reactions.
During the speech, Al-Shar'a said: "Our people in the coast in conflict areas are an important part of our nation, and it is our duty to protect them."
He continued: "Despite the treachery we have faced, the state will remain a guarantor of civil peace, and we will not allow any infringement on civil peace at all."

Al-Shar'a also urged all forces involved in conflict areas to comply with the orders of military leaders.

The Syrian President concluded his speech by saying: "Syria is moving forward and will not go back, so rest assured, it is under God's protection. May mercy be upon the martyrs, and I ask God to accept them in this holy month."
