According to sources close to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an agreement has been reached between the forces and the Syrian government to hand over the management of the Tishrin Dam to the central authorities, as part of international understandings involving the United States and Turkey in coordination with Damascus to halt the fighting in northern Syria. The "Syria TV" website quoted the source as saying that Washington played a mediating role in the indirect negotiations between the parties involved, including the SDF and Turkey on one side, and the SDF and the Syrian government on the other side, aiming to end the clashes near the Tishrin Dam in the countryside of Manbij, where factions affiliated with the Syrian army face SDF forces. It is expected that an official ceasefire agreement will be announced in the coming days, along with the handover of the dam's management and the deployment of General Security and Syrian army forces in the vicinity of the facility and neighboring areas. Government technical teams will be responsible for operating the dam and carrying out necessary maintenance to ensure its stability and increase electricity generation efficiency. This comes after the official SANA agency announced on Saturday, April 5, that maintenance teams entered the dam site to repair faults in preparation for its resumption of operation. The source confirmed that logistical arrangements are currently underway to officially announce the agreement, paving the way for the deployment of Syrian forces and their assumption of the facility's management in the coming days.
