After more than 10 years of interruption, Syria returns to the global communications system

The ministry explained through its Telegram account that in a step reflecting renewed openness and enhancing regional cooperation in the telecommunications sector, it was announced today from the Jordanian capital, Amman, that the Syrian Arab Republic is returning to participate in the activities of the 'GSMA' association concerned with global cellular communications, in parallel with the lifting of sanctions imposed by the US government after an interruption that lasted for more than ten years.
This announcement came on the sidelines of the visit of the Minister of Communications and Technology in Syria, Abdul Salam Hikil, and the accompanying delegation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where it was confirmed that Syria is returning to the global communications system, enabling it once again to benefit from all GSMA services, including participation in international conferences, capacity-building programs, and benefiting from the association's services, while allowing Syrian companies to connect to the 'GSMA' network and benefit from the provided advantages.
An official invitation was extended to the Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology to participate in the Global Communications Conference (Mobile World Doha Congress), which will be held in the upcoming month 11 in the state of Qatar, representing an important milestone for enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences at both the bilateral and regional levels.
