After 13 years... Syria and the Islamic Development Bank are discussing resuming cooperation.

The President of the Syrian Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Musab Badawi, met with a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank led by the Director General of Country Programs, Anas Issami, to discuss ways to enhance the partnership between the two sides after a 13-year hiatus.
The meeting was held as a prelude to resuming joint work in supporting recovery and sustainable development efforts in Syria.
Enhancing Recovery and Development
During the meeting, the two parties discussed mechanisms to support the Syrian recovery process, focusing on building local capacities, financing youth-led small and medium projects to serve economic and social development.
Badawi affirmed the authority's readiness for effective cooperation with the bank and ensuring precise monitoring of projects to maximize their developmental impact.
First Visit Since 2012
On his part, Anas Issami noted that this visit marks the first by the bank's delegation to Syria since 2012, aiming to assess reconstruction needs and explore partnership opportunities in priority development areas.
Issami reiterated the bank's commitment to supporting Syria in its economic recovery phase and assisting its efforts in achieving sustainable growth.
It is worth mentioning that Syria resumed its membership in the Islamic Development Bank on March 16, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the upcoming phase.
