A severe heat wave hits Syria.. and the "Meteorological" warns against exposure to sunlight

The General Directorate of Meteorology in Syria announced that the country is currently affected by a heat wave that will continue until the end of the week, peaking today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow. It warned against direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours from 11 AM to 5 PM, indicating that temperatures will record higher than usual rates, reaching 49 degrees Celsius in the eastern region and the island, while ranging between 44 and 45 degrees in the inland, central, southern, and northwestern areas.
According to the "SANA" agency, meteorologist Mohammad Matar explained that these significant increases in temperatures are due to the country's influence from the extension of a surface Indian seasonal low, accompanied by the extension of a semi-tropical high in the upper layers, leading to the formation of a "thermal dome" affecting all areas of Syria.
According to the morning bulletin of the meteorology, most areas are expected to experience clear hot to very hot weather, with partial clouds over the southern and southeastern regions, which may turn into scattered clouds accompanied by rain showers and strong downdrafts that stir dust and thunderstorms, potentially leading to the formation of a dust storm in those areas.
As for the night, the bulletin expected the weather to be generally moderate, with increased humidity in the western and southern areas, and westerly to southwesterly winds ranging from light to moderate, with active gusts exceeding 50 km/h.
High temperatures are expected to continue next Monday, recording 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above their averages, with hot to very hot weather persisting in most areas, while the opportunity remains for rain showers over the southeastern regions.
