A responsible source in the Syrian Ministry of Justice said today, Thursday, that social media circulated news about the formation of local committees in the province of Sweida, headed by what is called the "Supreme Legal Committee" which included a number of judges and issued several decisions.
In statements to "SANA", the source added: The "judges mentioned in (the committee) have begun activities that violate the duties imposed on judges under the provisions of the Judicial Authority Law, particularly Articles 78 and following of the Judicial Authority Law, which do not permit judges to combine judicial functions with another profession or any other subordinate work, and which prohibit judges from expressing political opinions and inclinations or engaging in politics."

The source continued: "Since the work that these judges have initiated is purely political and contradicts national interests and incites calls for division and segregation, they have been referred to the Inspection Department for investigation into the allegations against them and to take appropriate measures."
