A Republican congressman praises Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria.

Republican congressman in the U.S. Congress, Marlin Stutzman, expressed his support for President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria, describing this move as a "key to a new phase" in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Stutzman visited Syria last month, where he met with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar'a, discussing ways to develop trade relations, the possibility of suspending or lifting sanctions, as well as Syria's potential accession to the "Abraham Accords."
In a press statement following the visit, Stutzman confirmed that his discussions with President Al-Shar'a reinforced his belief that "Syria is ready for a strategic shift," stating: "The talks I had with President Al-Shar'a during my visit to Syria strengthened my conviction that the country is ready to start a new phase. President Al-Shar'a has a clear vision for Syria's future, seeking peace with Israel and showing readiness to engage with the West in a way the country has not seen before."
The Republican congressman added in his statement: "There is no doubt that President Trump's decision to lift sanctions will give the Syrian people the opportunity to come together for reconstruction and to build a great Syria anew," pointing out that the decision will contribute to regional stability and open up prospects for economic cooperation.
