A Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Calls for Lifting Export Controls Imposed on Syria
Republican Congressman Joe Wilson called on Monday for the lifting of U.S. export controls imposed on Syria.

In a post on the "X" platform, Wilson said: "I encourage the U.S. Department of Commerce and its Bureau of Industry and Security to act quickly to implement President Donald Trump's executive order and lift the export controls imposed on Syria."

He emphasized that "President Trump's vision is clear and should not be delayed any longer."

In 2005, the U.S. Congress passed a law ensuring restrictions on the export of U.S. goods to Syria, except for food and medicine. In May of this year, President Donald Trump announced the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria, in a move Trump described as "an opportunity for prosperity after years of war and international isolation."
