In a sudden development that raised concerns among his audience and fans, the esteemed Egyptian artist Sabry Abdel-Monem suffered a severe health crisis that led to his admission to the intensive care unit at a private hospital in Cairo.
The crisis began with a series of recurrent fainting episodes whose cause was initially unknown, necessitating urgent medical intervention and close monitoring by a specialized medical team.
His daughter, the artist Maryam Abdel-Monem, revealed in a statement that her father is now in a more stable condition after being transferred to the hospital and receiving the necessary treatment, explaining that doctors later discovered a severe deficiency in some vital components in the blood, such as potassium and magnesium, which caused the recurrent fainting episodes.
Although the artist is now able to perceive and communicate normally, he is still under medical observation in the intensive care unit, and is expected to be discharged within a few hours if the current improvement continues.
Earlier, Sabry Abdel-Monem had announced his battle with cancer, indicating a struggle that lasted for over five years with chemotherapy, which affected the heart's electrical circuit, leading to fainting spells and temporary Alzheimer's-like conditions.
Thanks to specialized medical intervention, heart rate regulation devices were implanted, helping to improve his health condition.
This recent health crisis was not the only one the artist faced, as in May 2023, he was targeted in a scam that aimed at his life savings, known in the media as the "lifetime nest egg".
At the time, security authorities revealed the involvement of ten individuals in the case, including five with criminal records.
Despite all he has been through, Sabry Abdel-Monem continues to hold onto hope, proving each time that the determination to live can be stronger than any health or human ordeal.
