In a step carrying many political and economic implications, the President of the Arab Republic of Syria, Mr. Ahmed Al-Shar'a, arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, today, where he was received by His Majesty King Abdullah II, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at Marka Airport.
The visit marked the beginning of an important dialogue between the two countries aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and joint coordination between the two brotherly peoples.
The Syrian President, along with His Majesty the King, headed to the Royal Basman Palace, where purposeful discussions took place reflecting the deep historical ties between the two countries.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in various fields, focusing on developing coordination mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of common interests and enhance regional security.
Both parties emphasized the importance of coordinating positions on common issues of concern to both countries and the region as a whole, while remaining committed to the path of joint Arab action to ensure the security and stability of the region.
The expanded meeting was attended by several prominent figures from both sides; representing the Syrian side were President Al-Shar'a and Foreign Minister Mr. Asaad Al-Shibani, while the Jordanian side was represented by His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, in addition to Prime Minister Dr. Ja'far Hassan and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
This visit aims to open new horizons of cooperation between the two countries, at a critical time witnessing rapid changes and transformations worldwide, reflecting a serious desire to enhance unity and understanding in facing regional and international challenges.
