The city of Port Sudan in Sudan witnessed intense clashes last night, as the city was subjected to several drone attacks by the Rapid Support Forces, leading to an escalation of clashes for the fourth consecutive day.
In response to these attacks, the Sudanese army's ground defenses successfully intercepted a number of drones that targeted vital areas, including the air college headquarters north of the city and Sudan's largest naval base, Flamingo Base.

Continuous explosions were heard in the city, despite defense efforts that resulted in the downing of several attack aircraft.
The attacks, which ignited fires in key fuel depots and caused damage to infrastructure, are becoming more complex at a critical time, as Port Sudan serves as a major entry point for humanitarian aid to the country suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces for the past two years.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern about the escalating attacks, warning that these strikes could result in a significant increase in civilian casualties and the destruction of vital infrastructure in the city, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and complicating relief efforts under the current circumstances.
