The Kremlin confirmed today, Monday, August 4, the necessity of exercising caution in nuclear rhetoric, in response to statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the redeployment of two American nuclear submarines. The Kremlin's response came in a comment from its spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, who said: "It is clear that the submarines were already on combat alert," noting that Moscow does not wish to enter into a dispute with Trump on this matter.

Peskov added: "There can be no winner in a nuclear war; perhaps this is the main principle we start from," affirming Russia's commitment to this principle. Trump stated on Friday that he ordered the submarines to be deployed in "appropriate areas" in response to statements from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev regarding the risk of a nuclear war between the two countries.

In a related context, Peskov praised the American efforts in mediating between Moscow and Kyiv, saying: "Dialogue is ongoing, and the United States continues its mediation efforts in search of a path for Ukrainian settlement. These efforts are extremely important, including in the context of the ongoing direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. Work is ongoing."

In response to a question about the visit of U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Wittkoff to Russia this week, Peskov emphasized the importance of this visit, saying: "We are always pleased to see Mr. Wittkoff in Moscow, and we are always happy to communicate with him, and we consider it important, meaningful, and very beneficial." Trump had previously announced that his envoy would visit Russia on August 6 and 7.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that Ukrainian forces' losses amounted to about 1160 soldiers over the past 24 hours in various military operation areas. According to the statement, losses were recorded in the areas of the "North" group (120 soldiers), "West" (225 soldiers), "East" (more than 215 soldiers), and "Dnieper" (about 65 soldiers), while operations by the "South" and "Center" groups resulted in the neutralization of about 150 and 385 soldiers, respectively.
