Amnesty International calls for the full report of the Fact-Finding Committee on the Coastal Events to be published

Amnesty International called on the Syrian President, Ahmed Al-Shar'a, to publish the full report of the Fact-Finding Committee that was formed to investigate the events on the Syrian coast last March, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the rights of the victims and their families.
In a statement, the Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa program at the organization, Kristin Bakerly, said that President Al-Shar'a should "commit to publishing the full results of the Fact-Finding Committee's investigations into the events in the coastal areas".
Bakerly stressed that "survivors and the families of the victims have the right to know what happened, who is responsible, and the measures the authorities will take to achieve justice", adding that "only independent and impartial investigations can lead to fair and reliable trials".
The Amnesty International official emphasized that "victims and the public have the right to know the methodology followed by the committee and its final conclusions", calling for "effective compensation to be provided to survivors and affected families".
Amnesty International pointed out that President Al-Shar'a, following the events, pledged to hold the perpetrators accountable "fairly and without leniency", noting that "the time has come to fulfill this promise and demonstrate the commitment of the Syrian authorities to prevent targeting communities on religious or political grounds".
