An earthquake with a magnitude of 6 on the Richter scale struck near the coasts of Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred at 23:04 local time at a depth of 40 kilometers. Residents of coastal prefectures in the Kyushu region, including Miyazaki, reportedly felt the earthquake. The official news agency Kyodo reported that no tsunami warning was issued in the area following the earthquake.
