Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated the need for imposing tougher sanctions on Russia during his meeting in Kyiv with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal. Zelensky expressed gratitude for the sanctions bill supported by both Republican and Democratic parties in the Senate, with the backing of 82 members, highlighting discussions on this bill and other tools that can be used to compel Russia to peace, promising to continue working together in this regard. Zelensky accused Moscow of undermining diplomatic initiatives and using negotiations as a cover for preparing for a new attack, pointing out that Russia continues to strike Ukrainian cities and villages and rejects all proposals related to a ceasefire, making the need for more pressure necessary. Zelensky thanked Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal for their parties' support for Ukraine, affirming that genuine U.S. involvement in all negotiation stages is the guarantee for achieving a reliable peace. Graham and Blumenthal also met with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during their visit to the Ukrainian capital to discuss expanding trade relations between the two countries.
