Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed yesterday, Friday, the resumption of American arms supplies to Ukraine after a partial halt, pointing to positive signals from the United States and its European allies.
Zelensky said in a video posted on his social media accounts: "We have political signals at the highest level, good signals, especially from the United States and our European friends. According to all reports, the supplies have resumed".
He added that Ukraine is also preparing for new shipments of European weapons.
These statements came as the US special envoy Keith Kellogg announced his intention to travel to Kyiv next Monday for talks on military support for Ukraine, where he will stay for a week.
Last week, the United States partially suspended shipments of weapons it had previously promised, a move that raised concerns in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump called for a swift end to the fighting in Ukraine, but exerted pressure on Kyiv by reducing weapon shipments, despite his recent increased criticism of Moscow.
Zelensky also expected the West to take "strong steps" regarding imposing additional sanctions on Russia.
These developments come against the backdrop of a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine held in Rome, where the international community discussed ways to support Kyiv in the face of the ongoing war.
