Zelensky Confirms New Prisoner Exchange Agreement with Russia

Zelensky stated in a post on the Telegram app that work is underway on a list of 1,200 names of prisoners of war.
The Russian negotiators mentioned this number during direct talks with their Ukrainian counterparts in Istanbul on July 23, while Ukraine did not announce a specific number at that time.
After a meeting with the chief Ukrainian negotiator Rustam Umerov, Zelensky clarified that the exchange will include civilians alongside soldiers, adding that preparations are underway for a new meeting with the Russian side, without specifying a date.
At the end of July, the Ukrainian president stated that the total number of people returned from Russia to Ukraine since the beginning of the war in February 2022 reached 5,857, while 555 others were released outside the framework of exchange deals, according to what he published on the "X" platform.
The last prisoner exchange took place in July, as part of a temporary agreement reached in Istanbul at the end of June, which stipulated the exchange of 1,200 prisoners from each side.
