Apple has long sought to add a successful fourth option to its flagship iPhone lineup. In recent years, the company has introduced more affordable alternatives to the Pro Max models, such as the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 16 Plus. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Plus may be replaced by the first "Air" branded phone this year, indicating that Apple's success with its larger-sized phones has been limited. Similarly, Apple's attempt to create a market for a smaller-sized iPhone, like the "mini" option, was abandoned after just two generations. According to the renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman, there are currently no plans for the company to return to compact phones in the near future. Gurman believes that the standard iPhone has become Apple's compact option, as all other iPhone models have grown larger in recent years. Based on current rumors, the first foldable iPhone, known as the iPhone Fold, may bring back some elements of the "mini" concept. It is expected to feature an external screen measuring 5.5 inches, compared to the 5.4-inch screen on the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, with this screen unfolding to reveal a foldable screen measuring 7.8 inches with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
