Yemeni Army: Desert Roads Linking Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hadhramaut are Military Operations Area

In a statement, the Yemeni Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces said, "The desert roads between the governorates of Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hadhramaut are military operations areas for the army and security forces carrying out tasks to combat terrorism, smuggling, and sabotage."
A military source at the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff urged "all citizens to avoid using the desert roads between the governorates of Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hadhramaut for their safety, as they are military operations areas."
The source also urged "all citizens and travelers to adhere to traveling through official roads and avoid passing through secondary routes that may expose them to danger or legal accountability."
The announcement by the Yemeni army regarding the desert roads in the Empty Quarter comes after increasing threats from the Houthi group, which exploits these routes for smuggling weapons and transporting fighters, in an attempt to escalate the military situation in Al-Mahra governorate, the far east of Yemen.
The desert roads connect through the Empty Quarter Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, and Marib, reaching Sana'a through a smuggling route used by the Houthis and extending for more than 1000 kilometers.
