Witkoff expresses optimism about ceasefire negotiations in Gaza

Witkoff told reporters in Teaneck, New Jersey, that he plans to meet with senior Qatari officials on the sidelines of the Club World Cup final.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country accepted Witkoff's proposal, as well as the version proposed by the mediators, indicating that Hamas is the one refusing to reach an agreement to cease fire.
He added: "Hamas wants to remain in Gaza. It wants us to withdraw, and to rearm itself, so it can attack us time and time again. I will not accept that. I will do everything in my power to bring our soldiers back".
Meanwhile, the Israeli security establishment warned that if tangible progress is not made in the ongoing negotiations regarding a prisoner exchange deal in the next few hours, it is expected that the political level will approve the implementation of a military maneuver towards the heart of Gaza City.
