American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced today, Thursday, his decision to bring back his negotiation team from Doha after "Hamas's latest response", indicating that the movement's response clearly shows "a lack of willingness to reach a ceasefire in Gaza".

This decision came after a round of intensive talks aimed at reaching an agreement to stop the fighting in Gaza and exchange prisoners.

According to Witkoff, Hamas's recent response did not meet the expectations or necessary demands for progress in the negotiations.

Witkoff said: "We have decided to bring our team back from Doha for consultations after Hamas's latest response, which clearly shows their lack of willingness to reach a ceasefire in Gaza." He added: "The mediators have made great efforts, but it seems that Hamas is not coordinated or not acting in good faith".

Witkoff added: "We will now consider alternative options to repatriate the hostages and try to create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza".

The American envoy concluded his statement with a clear criticism of Hamas's actions: "It is shameful that Hamas has acted in this selfish manner. We are determined to seek an end to this conflict and achieve lasting peace in Gaza".
