What If Dimona Reactor Was Targeted? Egypt Reviews Scenarios and Seeks Facts

Amid the ongoing war between Iran and Tehran, fears are escalating among the Egyptian public of a potential nuclear radiation leak in the event of Iran bombing the Israeli nuclear Dimona reactor located in the Negev Desert and relatively close to Egypt's borders.
In this context, the High Committee for Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies in Egypt held a meeting to review the periodic monitoring report of nuclear and radiological developments, which confirmed the complete safety of the current situation in Egypt.
In its concluding statement, the authority affirmed that there are no indications of potential radiation effects, highlighting its possession of monitoring devices operating 24 hours a day to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
The authority also hinted at continuous and direct coordination with national entities such as the General Authority for Meteorology and the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research. A memorandum of understanding was signed with them since 2022 to enhance cooperation in this vital field.
