Washington's ambassador to Israel, Mike Hacabee, said in an interview published by Bloomberg News today, Tuesday, that he does not believe the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is still a goal of US foreign policy. Bloomberg reported that when asked if the Palestinian state still represents a goal of US policy, Hacabee replied, "I don't think so." Trump chose Hacabee, a former governor of Arkansas, to serve as the US ambassador to Israel, and he is one of the staunchest supporters of Israel. The agency quoted Hacabee as saying, "Unless some fundamental changes that change the culture occur, there will be no room for that." He added that these changes are unlikely to happen "in our lifetimes." During his first term, Trump adopted a relatively lukewarm approach to the two-state solution, which is a cornerstone of US policy towards the Middle East, and has not shown any significant indication of his stance on this issue since the beginning of his second term.
