The Druze leader Walid Jumblatt stated today, Wednesday, "I am ready to go to Syria and we reject Israeli intervention in this country." Jumblatt emphasized that Israel seeks to exploit the Druze to stir up trouble in Syria. He also called for calm and dialogue, urging the Syrian authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the events in Jaramana. Jumblatt added: "We reject any insult to the Prophet Muhammad and condemn it." Jumblatt called for the formation of a committee to communicate with all parties to work on resolving the crisis in Syria. He further stated: "We need a unified Syria, while Israel wants to displace and exploit the Druze." These statements came after groups outside the law rebelled against Syrian security forces in the areas of Saqba and Jaramana in the Damascus countryside, following the circulation of an audio clip that insulted the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), leading to a state of alert in the Syrian streets. Israel intervened by carrying out several strikes in the Saqba area, which it considered warnings to the Syrian government to protect the Druze community in Syria.
