Xabi Alonso, the head coach of Real Madrid, has begun to lose patience with the decline in performance of Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, amid growing concern among the team's fans regarding his deteriorating level over the past few months.
According to Spanish media reports, Alonso and the "Royal" fans no longer see Vinicius as the decisive player they were used to, which threatens his starting position in the lineup.
After Vinicius shone notably during the match against Borussia Dortmund on October 22, when he scored a historic "hat-trick" in the Champions League, his level began to sharply decline, especially since his teammate Rodrigo won the Ballon d'Or that same month, which led some to link the two events and suggest that the player was affected psychologically.
During last season, Real Madrid failed to win most of the titles, which increased the pressure on the team as the new season began.
However, Vinicius has not shown the required form and has remained far from his known level, amid the brilliance of other names in the attacking line, most notably the new arrival Kylian Mbappe, who recently stole the spotlight against Osasuna, and striker Gonzalo, the top scorer of the Club World Cup, in addition to Rodrigo's continued brilliance.
In the last league match, Xabi Alonso did not hesitate to substitute Vinicius even though the result was not guaranteed, a move many interpreted as a direct message from the coach that the player's place in the starting lineup is no longer assured, and that performance is the only criterion.
On another note, the Spanish newspaper "Marca" added that the renewal of Vinicius's contract is still pending, despite previous promises to resolve it.
This delay in renewal, amid increasing rumors, has raised concerns among a wide segment of the club's fans, especially after leaks indicated that the player hinted at leaving if he continues to be ignored, saying in one of his angry statements: "I will leave .. and you will not get a single penny.".
The pressure is mounting on Vinicius to regain his usual level, otherwise the bench will be his fate amid fierce competition within Real Madrid's attack this season.
