The U.S. State Department announced today, Saturday, the suspension of all visitor visas for individuals coming from the Gaza Strip until a "comprehensive and thorough review" is conducted.
The department stated that "a small number of temporary visas for medical and humanitarian purposes were issued in the past few days," but did not provide specific numbers.
According to data from the department's website, it appears that the United States has issued more than 3,800 visitor visas in the (B1) and (B2) categories for holders of Palestinian Authority travel documents, including 640 visas issued in May.
Visitor visas in the (B1) and (B2) categories allow foreigners to receive treatment in the United States.
