US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said today that the European Union must open its markets to US exports in order to persuade President Donald Trump to reduce the 30% tariffs set to take effect on August 1st, adding that Brussels clearly wants to reach an agreement.
Ross told Fox News, "The question is: Are they offering President Trump a good enough deal to get him to abandon the 30% tariffs he has set?", noting that Trump is looking to increase exports of US companies to the bloc.
He added that the final decision will be up to Trump, who indicated that there is a 50% chance of reaching an agreement with the European Union.
